Village Potential (PODES) is one of the complete regional data collections carried out by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The implementation of PODES aims to meet the need for various regional data and information down to the smallest areas so that macro village/subdistrict development can be measured. The information collected includes employment, education, health, social culture, sports and entertainment, transportation, communication and information, economy, security, development and empowerment of village/district communities. Information related to vulnerabilities or challenges includes natural disasters, environmental pollution, social and health problems in the community, as well as security disturbances that occur in villages/sub-districts. The general objective of PODES data collection is to produce data for regional development purposes, providing data about regional potential, availability of infrastructure/facilities, and socio-economic conditions in each village/sub-district. Meanwhile, some of the specific objectives include:
1. means for updating the Village Master File (MFD);
2. provide data regarding the existence and development of the potential of the village/sub-district which includes social, economic, regional facilities and infrastructure;
3. provide data for the purposes of updating village classification/typology, for example urban-rural, coastal-non-coastal, and so on;
4. data sources for updating statistical work area maps;
5. provide basic data for the preparation of small area statistics;
6. provide data for the preparation of various analyzes such as identification and determination of disadvantaged villages, context variables in PMT, identification of disaster-prone villages, and identification of villages that have geographical difficulties;
7. provide data for calculating village/sub-district development or progress indicators.
In every census, survey and data collection implementation, training is required with the aim of uniform understanding of concepts and definitions for field officers, both Field Enumerators (PCL) and Field Inspection Officers (PML). Training for PODES 2024 data collection field officers was held at the Videsi Hotel for one day effective April 24 2024 with a total of 28 participants consisting of 1 Regional Instructor (Inda), 7 PML, 18 PCL, and 2 committee members.
