Village Potential Data Collection (PODES) is the only complete village-level data collection carried out by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). PODES data collection is data collection carried out on the availability of infrastructure and potential possessed by each administrative area at the village/kelurahan, sub-district and district/city levels throughout Indonesia. In general, PODES information includes the potential of the village/subdistrict and the vulnerabilities or challenges faced by the village/subdistrict. Information related to village/subdistrict potential includes employment, education, health, social culture, sports and entertainment, transportation, communication and information, economy, security, as well as development and empowerment of village/subdistrict communities. Meanwhile, information related to vulnerabilities or challenges faced by villages/sub-districts includes natural disasters, environmental pollution, social and health problems in the community, as well as security disturbances that occur in villages/sub-districts.
Data generated by PODES is used for regional development purposes, availability of infrastructure/facilities, and socio-economic conditions in each village/sub-district. Apart from aiming to describe the potential in an area, PODES data is also used to calculate village development/progress indicators, including the Geographical Difficulty Index (IKG) and Village Index (ID).
PODES 2024 field data collection was carried out on 1-31 May 2024 with the instrument used in the form of a PODES questionnaire at village, sub-district and district/city levels using Android-based media, namely FASIH. The scope of PODES 2024 covers all government administrative areas at village level including Villages, Subdistricts, Nagari, Transmigration Settlement Units (UPT), and Transmigration Settlement Units (SPT) which are still being developed by relevant ministries throughout Indonesia. In Rote Ndao Regency, there are 119 villages/sub-districts and 11 sub-districts whose government administration has been recorded. Active participation from local governments at the village/sub-district, sub-district and district/city levels will be very necessary in the data collection process so that the resulting data is more valid and useful for regional development.
